Arriving in Johannesburg

OR Tambo International Airport (IATA: JNB, ICAO: FAOR) is South Africa's busiest and most important airport, located in Kempton Park, approximately 20 kilometers (12 miles) east of Johannesburg city center. It serves as the main international gateway to the country and one of the major aviation hubs on the African continent.




The airport opened in 1952 as Jan Smuts International Airport before being renamed in 2006 to honor Oliver Reginald Tambo legacy.



The airport has two main terminals:

  • Terminal A (International Departures & Arrivals): This terminal handles all international flights, including those from airlines such as British Airways, Emirates, Lufthansa, and others. It has a wide range of amenities for international travelers, including lounges, restaurants, duty-free shopping, and currency exchange.

  • Terminal B (Domestic Departures & Arrivals): This terminal is dedicated to domestic flights



The airport offers over 60 international destinations and 30 domestic routes
